Students may transfer credits from other accredited colleges, including the colleges within the Community College System of New Hampshire provided they earned a grade of “C” or better, and those credits are equivalent to the courses in their program. An official transcript from other colleges is required to start the transfer process.
The Admissions Office, the Registrar’s Office, and Department Chairs coordinate the transfer credit process. Students should consider transfer credits might lessen their financial aid eligibility by reducing the course load from full-time to part-time status. Students using Veterans benefits must transfer credit into LRCC if the credit meets graduation requirements. Lakes Region Community College does not use grades received in courses taken at any other institution in computing semester or cumulative grade point averages.
Courses taken as Pass/Fail at other institution will not transfer in to Lakes Region Community College unless explicitly permitted by the appropriate Department Chair.
Science and other technical courses (including, but not limited to, Anatomy and Physiology I & II and Microbiology) taken more than 5 years prior to the desired date of entry must be repeated or challenged to be applied toward most Allied Health programs. Time limits may also apply to computer or major field courses; final decisions rest with the Department Chair.
College credit will be granted to students with military training, experience, or coursework recognized by the American Council on Education. Students seeking credit for their military experience will submit a hard copy of their military transcript to the Admissions Office or Registrar’s Office for the review/evaluation process.
International Baccalaureate (IB) exams are considered for transfer credit if scores from the International Baccalaureate Organization are submitted. Of the 2 IB exam levels, only the higher-level exams where a score of 5, 6, or 7 has been achieved will be considered for transfer credit. Credit will not be given for standard-level exams.
CLEP and AP exams are considered for transfer credit if scores from the College Entrance Examination Board are submitted. Students who have taken AP and IB exams do not receive credit for both.
Challenge exams, credit by exam, and pass/fail courses taken at other institutions will not be considered for transfer credit.
Course descriptions, syllabi, and course outlines may be requested.
